Rhodiola species, belonging to the family Crassulaceae, have long been used as an adaptogen, tonic, antidepressant, and antistress medicine or functional food in Asia and Europe. Due to the valuable application, the growing demand of Rhodiola species has led to a rapid decrease in resource content. This review aims to summarize the integrated research progress of seven mainstream Rhodiola species. We first outline both traditional and current use of Rhodiola for the treatment of various diseases. A detailed summary and comparison of chemical, pharmacological, toxicological, and clinical studies of various Rhodiola species highlight recent scientific advances and gaps, which gives insights into the understanding of Rhodiola application and would be helpful to improve the situation of biological resources and diversities of Rhodiola plants.

Aging is a phenomenon that human's physiology and psychology is progressive decline for natural environment. Health Qigong, as a convenient and effective exercise therapy,is widely used for anti-aging. However, there are no systematic reviews or meta-analysises to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Health Qigong on anti-aging.

The efficacy and safety of health qigong for anti-aging: Protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Thyroid nodules (TN) are discrete lesions within the thyroid gland and are a common clinical problem detected in 19% to 68% of people. TN are more common as age increases and occur more frequently in women. TN can cause pressure symptoms, cosmetic complaints, and thyroid dysfunction. Treatment for benign thyroid nodules includes thyroid hormone therapy, surgery, radioiodine treatment, percutaneous ethanol injection therapy, and laser or radiofrequency treatment to shrink nodules. In China and many other countries, doctors use Chinese herbal medicines (CHM) to treat TN. However, systematic review and meta-analysis has not been found to assess the effects and safety of CHM in curing TN at present. Hence, the systematic review is conducted to scientifically and methodically evaluate the value of its effectiveness and safety of CHM on TN.

Effect of Chinese herbal medicine for patients with benign thyroid nodules in adults: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.

In clinical practice, Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) purportedly has beneficial therapeutic effects for chronic kidney disease (CKD), which include delaying disease progression and dialysis initiation. However, there is a lack of high-quality evidence-based results to support this. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of CHM combined with Western medicine in the treatment of stage 5 CKD.

Effectiveness of Chinese herbal medicine combined with Western medicine on deferring dialysis initiation for nondialysis chronic kidney disease stage 5 patients: a multicenter prospective nonrandomized controlled study.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) being the most common histological type. Owing to the limited therapeutic efficacy and side effects of currently available therapies for NSCLC, it is necessary to identify novel therapeutic targets for NSCLC. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are non-protein-coding RNAs with a transcript length of more than 200 nucleotides, which play a vital role in the tumorigenesis and progression of multiple cancers, including NSCLC. Induction of programmed cell death (PCD) is the main mechanism leading to tumour cell death in most cancer treatments. Recent studies have demonstrated that lncRNAs are closely correlated with PCD including apoptosis, pyroptosis, autophagy and ferroptosis, which can regulate PCD and relevant death pathways to affect NSCLC progression and the efficacy of clinical therapy. Therefore, in this review, we focused on the function of lncRNAs in PCD of NSCLC and summarized the therapeutic role of targeting lncRNAs in PCD for NSCLC treatment, aiming to provide new sights into the underlying pathogenic mechanisms and propose a potential new strategy for NSCLC therapy so as to improve therapeutic outcomes with the ultimate goal to benefit the patients.

Targeting lncRNAs in programmed cell death as a therapeutic strategy for non-small cell lung cancer.

Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies in women, and exhibits high metastasis, recurrence and fatality rates. Novel therapies for breast cancer are constantly emerging, such as targeted therapy, oncolytic virotherapy, and immunotherapy. Despite their potential, these new therapies are still in their infancy, and chemotherapy remains the standard treatment for breast cancer. Therefore, it is of great significance to develop safe and efficient treatment drugs or adjuvants for breast cancer treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a long clinical history in China, in which  Georgi exhibits favorable antibreast cancer activities. We therefore conducted a systematic review of the available literature to better understand the molecular mechanisms of  in breast cancer treatment.  and its active components (baicalein, baicalin, wogonin, wogonoside, oroxylin A and scutellarin) exhibited promising antibreast cancer activity through proliferation inhibition, apoptosis induction, invasion and metastasis blockading, and drug-resistance and non-coding RNA regulation. Additionally, senescence, autophagy, angiogenesis, and glycolysis mechanisms were observed to play a role in their antibreast cancer activity. Furthermore, multiple signaling pathways contributed to the antitumor effects of , such as the NF-[Formula: see text]B, Wnt/[Formula: see text]-catenin, SATB1, Bcl2 family proteins, Caspase, PI3K/Akt, mTOR, ERK, p38-MAPK, TGF-[Formula: see text]/Smad, and Hippo/YAP pathways. This review provides valuable insights into the role of  as a breast cancer treatment and acts as a foundation for further investigations in this field.
